Unified (единый обьедененный )

Date: 2015-10-07; view: 452.

It is hard to actually know where material and immaterial stop and begin. God says that He made man from dust and breathed into Him life. Which part is the man? The dust part or the breath part? We know that how we think is influenced by the spiritual realm (Acts 5:3) but it is also affected by our physical condition. If I'm tired, it easier for me to get angry. If I'm depressed, it is easier for me to feel physically tired. When I am in fellowship with God I often feel happy. When I am in sin, I often feel physically drained. However sometimes I feel physically drained and start question if I am in sin. They affect each other.

We must at the outset make it clear that the emphasis of Scripture is on the overall unity of man as created by God. When God made man he “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being” (Gen. 2:7). Here Adam is a unified person with body and soul living and acting together. This original harmonious and unified state of man will occur again when Christ returns and we are fully redeemed in our bodies as well as our souls to live with him forever (see 1 Cor. 15:51 – 54)3.

In Scripture we find that most of the emphasis is on the holistic view of man. It is important for us to grow godlier in our outward actions, physical condition, spiritual understanding and righteous obedience to God. Be careful when too much focus is placed on the individual parts of man and practical/doctrinal emphasis is tied to it.

God places the emphasis on the whole man (material and immaterial) so it is important to submit all of it to God. We are responsible to care for your body and your Spirit.
