Complex Ability to Glory in GodDate: 2015-10-07; view: 477. Complex Emotions (ïðèâåäè â ïðèìåð ñëîâî êîìïëåêñíûå îáåäû èëè êîïëåêñ æèëîé ) We also have complex emotions that are very hard to describe at times. We may experience several emotions simultaneously!
But in the complexity of emotions that we experience, once again we are far different than the rest of creation. After watching my son's baseball game, I can simultaneously feel sad that his team lost, happy that he played well, proud that he was a good sport, thankful to God for giving me a son and giving me the joy of watching him grow up, joyful because of the song of praise that has been echoing in my mind all afternoon, and anxious because we are going to be late for dinner! It is very doubtful that an animal experiences anything approaching this complexity of emotional feeling We are probably complex in many more ways that set us apart from animals while still be “similar” to animals. Similarity does not mean equality but it may indicate the same author/designer/creator. With our complex language and complex emotions we are able to understand, consider and enjoy our complex God. We recognize the beauty, vastness and wonder of creation. We can recognize the fact that we are “Fearfully and Wonderfully” made and thus glory in our creator.
This is a Godlike quality because God himself sees, and sees far more than we will ever see, although he does not do it with physical eyes like we have. Our ears give us the ability to hear, and this is a Godlike ability, even though God does not have physical ears. Our mouths give us the ability to speak, reflecting the fact that God is a God who speaks. Our senses of taste and touch and smell give us the ability to understand and enjoy God's creation, reflecting the fact that God himself understands and enjoys his creation, though in a far greater sense than we do. WHAT IS SIN? Definition We all understand intuitively that there is a right and wrong about life. We know when someone has acted wrongly towards us. Our conscience tells us when we believe that we have acted wrongly towards someone else. We value and honor those who live uprightly.
It is popular, in the world today, to make sin and wrong behavior seem necessary, fun and even “right” at times. There is the saying, “The end justifies the means.” Movies often show how complicated scenarios can be come and will lead us to a point where we are actually hoping the guy who is doing wrong (stealing, etc.) will win and not be caught. How do we define these moral issues? Where do they come from?
DEFINED BY GOD'S NATURE
Sin has been defined in many ways. _Selfishness in man _Anything contrary to God's holiness. _Anything against God's Moral Law. _That which is not right or true. _And many more…
We will define it as anything against God as He is defined by His character, desires and glory.
When God gave Moses the Law, He clearly defined his desires and expectations for Israel (Rom 7:7-8). The act of lawlessness is sin. (1 John 3:4)
Sin includes our attitudes that are against God's desires. It is not just the act of sin that is considered sin (Matt 5:27-30).
Not doing what we know is right is sin. (James 4:17)
Idolatry is opposed to God's Glory and it is sin. (1 Cor 6:18, 10:14)
Acting without faith (trust in God) is sin. (Rom 14:23) Rom 3:10-18 and 23 give a good over view of Sin. It includes actions, heart motives, no one is exempt and all miss the mark of God's holiness.
