Deception (îáìàí ëîæü )Date: 2015-10-07; view: 558. Fear Shame Guilt
Because of their Sin, Adam and Eve immediately feel guilt. They know that they have disobeyed God and thus desire to avoid Him. They also attempt to redirect the blame on others instead of themselves. They seek to deceive. Their very natural interaction with God is now one of shame, fear and deception. Gen 3:7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. Now that their eyes are open to right and wrong, they realize that they lose their confidence and free enjoyment of life. Now they begin to evaluate themselves and feel shame. It's not wrong for them to be naked but they feel a need to cover themselves. Genesis 3:8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself They hide from God because they know they have done wrong. God has never cursed, chastised or harmed them in anyway. Yet, they fear Him. It is possible that they already know of a cosmic battle between God and the angelic rebellion. But that is speculation. They hide in fear from a God who has only ever loved them. Genesis 3:11 He said_“Who told you that_ you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat? 12 The man said: the woman whom you gave to be with me she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate. 13 Then the LORD God said to the woman WHAT IS THIS THAT YOU HAVE DONE? The woman said The serpent deceived me and I ate.
Each one blames someone else with a bit of truth and a bit of deception. By denying the truth they continue the hurt and destruction of their ability to fellowship with God. This is seen in the sad drama of the Garden but God has specifically warned us about it.
1 John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Worldview Corrupted (ïîâðåæäåííîå ìèðîâîçðåíèå ) Now Adam's worldview will forever be dealing with these issues and probably others we can't fully identify. Everything in their thinking is corrupted as well. Instead of confidently and peacefully running to God for fellowship, we all struggle with: _the guilt of our continual corruption, _shame of our weaknesses _deception to make ourselves look better
We are called by God to trust His Spirit to renew our minds.
John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. Rom 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. DEATH Death = Separation Finally, all of these natural consequences can be summarized as “DEATH”. Adam and Eve experienced a form of separation from God. What had been a joyful relationship with complete and unhindered fellowship is now gone. They once carried the clear image of God but now they have been marred by corruption.
Death means separation. Know these types of death in scripture
_Spiritual Death = Separation from God. (Eph 2:1-3) _Physical Death = Separation from the Body. (James 2:26) _Second/Eternal Death = Separation from God for Eternity (Rev 20:14-15) _Dead to Sin = Separation from the control of Sin (Rom 6:6-7)
God said that in the day they ate they would surely die and they did spiritually. But they began a slow physical death.
Gen 5:5 Thus all the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died PUNISHMENT /CURSE Not only were there immediate natural changes to mankind but there was further specific chastisement actions GOD would take because of their sin. Because GOD actually pronounces further changes to humanity, structure and creation this is referred to as GOD's Curse.
