Art (from èñêóñû – to create) – is the process or product of expression of inner world in artistic image, creative arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions. Art is an any activity, directed on the creation of expressive forms according to aesthetic ideal.

Art it is also a particular way of perception and reflecting of the reality, one of the form of social consciousness and part of the spiritual culture of human, and all humanity, varied result of the creative activity of all generations.

Traditionally, the term art was used to refer to any skill or mastery, developed in some area. Conditionally any kind of activity can be named "art" if the executor puts the feelings in the new original and significant form.

Art has had a great number of different functions throughout its history, making its purpose difficult to abstract, the different purposes of art may be grouped as non-motivated, and those which are motivated.

Arts can be classified by different criteria. A subject of display of the visual arts is the external reality, non visual arts embody private world. Non visual arts by the type of expression and perception are divided on musical, dancing and literary, the mixed kinds also are possible.

By dynamics of art are possible to divide on spatial and temporal. By utility art are divided on applied arts and fine arts. Art can be divided into the kinds using different materials. Depending on expressed feelings and emotions arts are possible to divide on genres and styles: a drama, tragedy, a comedy, a farce, etc.

An artistic medium is the substance or material the artistic work is made from.

An art form is the specific shape, or quality an artistic expression takes.

A genre is a set of conventions and styles within a particular media.

An artwork, artist's, or movement's style is the distinctive method and form that art takes.

The creative arts are often divided into more specific categories that are related to their technique, or medium, such as decorative arts, plastic arts, performing arts, or literature.
