A RAINY DAY EPISODE

AT THE STATION
We see three men at the railway station. They ___ (to speak) to a porter. "What time ___ (to be) the next train for London?" one of them ___ (to ask). "They ___ (to go) every hour. The next train ___ (to be) at ten o'clock," the porter ___ (to say). "That's all right," they ___ (to say). "Let's go to the refreshment room and wait for the train there." At two minutes past ten the three men ___ (to run) out of the refreshment room and ___ (to ask) the porter, "___ the train ___ (to go)?" "Yes, it has," the porter ___ (to say). "The next train ___ (to be) at eleven o'clock." "That ___ (to be) all right," the three men ___ (to say). "Let's go to the refreshment room and have a drink there."
At two minutes past eleven the three men again ___ (to run) out of the refreshment room but the eleven o'clock train ___ already ___ (to go). "The next train ___ (to be) at twelve o'clock. It ___ (to be) the last train for London," the porter ___ (to say).
At twelve o'clock we again ___ (to see) the three men running out of the refreshment room. Two of them ___ (to get) into a carriage but the third man ___ (not to get) into the train. He ___ (to stand) at the platform and ___ (to laugh). "Why ___ you ___ (to laugh)?" the porter asks (to ask). "Because those men ___ (to come) to see me off," the man___ (to say). It ___ (to rain) hard the whole morning when I had to leave my house. I ___ (to want) to take my umbrella, but I ___ (to see) that out of my five umbrellas there ___ (not to be) a single one which I could use. I ___ (to decide) to take all of the five umbrellas and have them repaired. When I ___ (to go) out, my wife ___ (to ask) me to bring her umbrella back. "From 8 to 9 I ___ (to take) a walk," she ___ (to say), "and I will need (to need) it." I ___ (to go) to a repair shop. "I want to have my umbrellas repaired," I ___(to say). "I ___ (to call) for them on my way home." At one o'clock in the afternoon I ___ (to feel) hungry and ___ (to go) to the restaurant. I ___(to sit) down at a table and ___ (to order) lunch. A few minutes later a young woman with an umbrella in her hand ___ (to come) in and ___ (to sit) down at the same table. After lunch I ___ (to get) up, ___ (to take) the woman's umbrella, and ___ (to be) about to leave the restaurant. I must tell you I ___ (to be) a very absent-minded man. "This ___ (to be) my umbrella," the woman ___(to cry). "Excuse me," I ___ (to say) returning the umbrella to her. "I ___ (to be) awfully sorry." In the evening on my way home, I ___ (to call) for the umbrellas which ___ (to be) ready by that time, and ___(to go) to the nearest underground station. There I ___ (to get) into the carriage, ___ (to put) five umbrellas by my side and ___(to begin) to read a newspaper. Suddenly I ___ (to hear) a voice, "Oh, you ___ (to have) a very successful day today, haven't you?" I ___ (to look) up and ___ (to be) surprised to see the same young woman - my companion at lunch. She ___ (to look) at my umbrellas and ___ (to smile).
