ONE SHOULD KNOW THAT: TYPES OF TICKETS

BOOKING THE TICKETS

1. First of all discuss in pairs with your partner the following questions:

Do you travel much?

What countries have you been to?

What language did you speak there? Was it difficult for you to speak English and to understand other people?

Do you usually book tickets well in advance?

How do you do that?

Air Tickets

Open tickets cost you more.

All First and Business class tickets are open, i.e. you can change your flight times.

Full-fare Economy tickets are usually open.

Cheaper tickets are usually Restricted, i.e. you can't change them.

The best known-type is APEX (Advance Purchase Excursion).

Often you have to stay overnight - something most business travellers won't want to do!

2. Match the definition with the type of ticket.

1. Business travellers prefer this ticket Restricted

2. The most expensive ticket Business class

3. It takes you there and back One-way

4. The cheapest of the open tickets Round-trip

5. You can choose your return date Economy class

6. You can't change this one at all First class

7. You can't return with this Open

In which class do you usually fly? What are the differences between the three main classes - First, Business and Economy? What's the difference between an open ticket and a restricted ticket? What information do you need if you want to book a ticket?
