7. Answer the following questions:

 

· Who is the major character of the story? What is the man like?

· In your opinion, what were the reasons for using the Time Machine during Eckels' lifetime? What did the people like Eckels seek?

· Study the description of dinosaurs' world. What was it like?

· Why did the rules of the ‘game' forbid any ‘optional' killings like, for example, one of a butterfly?

· In your opinion, what can the expression ‘stay on the Path' imply?

· What, do you think, the surname ‘Deutscher' may presuppose?

· Was Deutscher really ‘an iron man'? Why do you think so?

· Why does the story carry the title “A Sound of Thunder”? What is meant here, in your opinion?

 

8.Have you ever heard anything about the animals mentioned in the story? What do you know about them? What did they look like?

Consult your library's resources to find more information on the subject matter.

9.Characterize Eckels' personality before the trip and right after it. Which Eckels appeals to you? Why? Give your arguments.

10.Compare the sigh painted on the office wall before the trip with the one Eckel read right after it. What changed so vividly – the sigh itself or something else? What technique did the author use to underline this very change, in your opinion?
