Chapter IIIDate: 2015-10-07; view: 587. The next evening the four gathered on the edge of the campus. Some homeless guy was sleeping on a bench nearby, but otherwise the coast was clear. One after another Leroy, Geoffrey and Richard climbed over the fence to have Trevor greet them in a quiet voice: - What took you so long? It's eight o'clock in the evening! - Well, our guy is still in the library, isn't he? - asked Richard. - Yeah, he probably won't leave until it closes at nine. - Did he have the box? - Yes-yes, the big brown box with something so valuable that I risk my college education to help you steal it. Anyway, what's in it? Leroy grinned: - You'll see. … Half an hour later the quartet was hiding in the bushes near the library. They were all wearing dark clothes. Leroy was practically invisible in the night due to his skin color. Suddenly two figures emerged out of the building. - Look, that's him! He's coming out, he's coming out! - whispered Richard excitedly. - Alright, stick to the plan, guys. Trevor, go, - ordered Geoffrey. Trevor nervously walked out onto the pavement and went to the man. He was about the same age as Geoffrey, neatly dressed. With him was a tall, muscular man, seemingly accompanying him for protection. While Trevor was walking past the man he “accidentally” bumped into his shoulder, making him drop the box. Surprisingly enough, the box didn't break or even make much of a sound. It seemed that it could as well be empty. - Oh, excuse me, let me help you, - said Trevor and reached for the box. - Don't! - said the bodyguard and shoved Trevor aside. The man quickly picked up the box. - NOW! - a sudden squeaky shout was heard, and three figures burst out of the bushes. One tackled the bodyguard, another one wrested the box from the man's hands. The third one grabbed Trevor by the collar. It was Richard. - Dude, RUN! The four quickly ran back to the fence. It was a half-kilometer run, and they were so excited that when they were on the other side of the fence they were almost exhausted. - Alright, now open the box, - demanded Trevor. - No-no-no, now is not the time! - objected Leroy. - Why? - Because of the cops, you dimwit! - Oh come on! - shouted the three simultaneously. The sirens sounded on the nearby street. - Quick, get in the car! - Wait, since when do we have a car? - I... Uh... Plot hole! - Leroy answered the anonymous question and grabbed the wheel, - yes, now that's what I call a good day! A proper car chase! Wait, is that a KFC? - Dude, DRIVE! - yelled Richard. - Yeah guys, you wait here for a sec, gonna get us some wings. Be right back! Leroy got out of the car and ran to the restaurant. Geoffrey took his place. - Come on, we have no time. We'll have to leave him. Don't worry, he'll be fine. He's had it worse. - DRIVE!
