Ex. 1 Open the brackets using Present Simple
My friend Mary has a horse. It is a beautiful animal with big eyes and a long tail. Its name is Black Beauty and it loves people. It does not bite or kick and it is always friendly. It eats apples and hay but it does not eat meat. Horses do not like meat. Mary usually rides her horse every day after school. She does not go into the town because there is too much traffic. There are not many cars in the country so she takes Black Beauty there. At night Black Beauty and the other horses sleep in the stable. It is not easy looking after a horse but Mary enjoys it.

1) Dear Mary,
I am writing to you from Corfu. We're in a great hotel. It's got everything. Jack and I are sitting next to the pool. Jack is reading the paper. The children are swimming in the pool. There's a piano and somebody is playing my favourite song. The weather is beautiful. We are having a wonderful time.

2) We're home alone this month. Our daughter Carol has got a temporary job – she is working at a bank in London for three months. Our son, Pete, is staying with our cousins in Australia. The twins, Luke and Penny, are in Frankfurt – they are taking a German course at a language school. We are enjoying the peace and quiet!

He does not speak five languages! 11. Julie likes listening to classical music. 12. John and Mary hate adventure holidays. 13. The flight to London departs at 10 o'clock. 14. Melissa does not like jeans. 15. Water boils at 100 °C.
