Present Positive Negative Question
I We You play. They   He She plays. It   We do not play.   He does not play. Do they play?   Does she play?

 

  Past I played. I did not play. Did I play?
He wrote He did not write. Did he write?
Future I will play. I will not play. Will you play?

Notes: Present Simple is used with the words every day, usually, etc.

Past Simple is used with the words yesterday, last week (month / year), two days (months / years) ago, etc.

Future Simple is used with the words tomorrow, next week, in 5 days, etc.

Future time is also expressed by “going to” a)for planned future events, b)when the speaker feels sure about what will happen because of the situation now.

Willis used:

a) to express a future decision or intention made at the moment of speaking.

1) – It's Jane's birthday.

– Is it? I'll buy her some flowers.

2) – Which do you want? The blue or the red?

– I'll take the red. Thank you.

b) to express statements of a future fact: We'll take exams in January.

c) in predictions after I think, perhaps, etc.: I think, it'll rain.
