B: You work in the office. Your friend was ill yesterday and does not know what happened. Tell him/her the news.

A: You work in the office, but you were ill yesterday and you do not know the news. You ask a friend to tell you what happened.

Ex.43 Work in pairs. Prepare and practise the conversation.

· Listen to three conversations to find out if you were correct.

Ex.42 Listen to the conversations again. Match the sentence 1-6 with the phrases a-f.

honour (n) – 1) слава, почёт, честь;

to give a reception in sb's honour – давать приём в чью-л. честь

2) почтение, уважение, почёт

to give/ pay honour to sb – оказывать кому-л. уважение, почтение

honours (n) – награды, почести, в частности ордена, медали, знаки отличия

(to graduate) with honours – (закончить учебное заведение) с наградами, с отличием

 

target (n) – 1) цель, мишень

to aim at target – прицелиться

to fire at a target – стрелять по цели

to hit a target – попасть в цель, поразить цель

to miss a target – промахнуться, не попасть в цель

target market – целевой рынок

2) объект, предмет (издёвок, насмешек, критики и т.д.)

a target for sth – объект чего-л.
