Writing

A scenario is a description of imagined events. We sometimes use a scenario to describe what could happen or what might have happened. A scenario is a useful management tool because we can use it to describe what would be the result of a management decision. For example, what would be the result of increased promotional activities? Sales would increase and we would have to develop new distribution plans to get the products to the consumers. If sales increased beyond a certain amount, it might be necessary to build new production facilities closer to the markets. The elements of the scenario are in chronological order. That is, the events are described in the order in which they would occur.

Write a scenario or description of events about a company that decides to export a certain product to another country. Describe the activities of he exporting country to encourage exports, and the reaction of the country importing the products to protect its domestic industries. What happens to the exchange rates between the two countries? The order for the events of your scenario can be the same as the order of discussion in the text. First describe the reasons for exporting; then describe the reactions of the governments and the effects on the exchange rates; and conclude with the establishment of a subsidiary.
