The rate of caries progression is usually slow but can be rapid in some individuals, particularly younger children. In general, the older the child is at diagnosis of a carious lesion, the slower the progress of the lesion is, assuming constancy of other risk factors. The remineralized tissue of early caries is less susceptible to further caries. The remineralization sources available are: - fluoride rinsing, - fluoride varnishing, - fluoride gels, - remedies for deep fluorization (deep-penetration fluoride Tiefenfluorid® - gels with calcium (casein-phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate Toothmousse (GC) and others), - oral hygiene measures. Treatment of superficial, medium and deep caries lesions need operative approach. The peculiarities of temporary and young permanent teeth must be taken into account.
