Reading Four: My Idea of a True ManagerDate: 2015-10-07; view: 493. Concluding the Topic
He knows how to manage others who knows how to manage himself.
It cannot be denied that the company's success is mainly due to good management. There are different views on the qualities required by a ‘true manager'. I'd like to tell you about my idea of a good manager. I personally think that competence is one of the basic business qualities. In fact, a competent manager has sufficient skills and knowledge to do his job to a high standard that allows maintaining good reputation. One can gain knowledge from various books, own experience, and other people's experience. I'm convinced that sense of responsibility is essential to an efficient manager. No manager is successful in business without taking risks and doing new things. No doubt, a good manager needs managerial skills and flexibility to meet changing circumstances. Ability to work hard is also one of the attributes of a successful manager. Among the ingredients of success a good command of a foreign language counts for a great deal. Skill in using office equipment is also desirable. It is important for any person to turn professional. Besides business qualities a manager needs to have a number of personal qualities that must be seen as the key to success. So, a true manager is strong-minded, dependable and confident. Brainpower is an important factor that gets a person a job. But such qualities of mind like understanding one's own feelings, being sensitive to other people's feelings and the ability to manage your own feelings matter much as they get a person promotion.
