Grammar: Comparatives and Superlatives; too / enough;

Ex. 1 Rewrite the sentences using as…as

Example:Eric is tired. Sarah is tired. – Eric is as tired as Sarah.

 

1. Mary is hungry. Mike is hungry. 2. Alice is busy. Mary is busy. 3. Tailor is angry. Susan is angry. 4. The boat is expensive. The car is expensive. 5. The dolphins are clever. The elephants are clever. 6. An apple pie is tasty. A cherry cake is tasty. 7. Lemon is sour. Vinegar is sour. 8. Curry is hot. Pepper is very hot.

Ex. 2 Rewrite the sentences using not asas

Example: The juice is as sweet as it was yesterday. – The juice is not as sweet as it was yesterday.

 

1. Monkeys are as clever as people. 2. A carp is as big as a shark. 3. A mouse is as big as a cat. 4. A panda is as dangerous as a tiger. 5. A lake is as big as an ocean. 6. A lemon is as sweet as a tangerine. 7. An oak tree is as small as a birch tree. 8. A usual coat is as expensive as a fur coat.

Ex. 3 Complete the sentences using as... as, than

Examples:1) Kate is taller ... her brother. - Kate is taller than her brother.

2) This girl is ... pretty ... that one.- This child is as pretty as that one.

3) Mary is not ... thin ... you. - Mary is not as thin as you.

Ex. 4 Open the brackets using comparatives or superlatives

Examples:1) She is not as … (busy) as I am. - She is not as busy as I am.

2) Span­ish is … (easy) than German. - Span­ish is easier than German.

3) Chinese is … (difficult) than English. - Chinese is more difficult than English.

4) January is the … (cold) month of the year. - January is the coldest month of the year.

5) My sister speaks English … (bad) than I do. - My sister speaks English worse than I do.
