The most prominent of them are State University, Polytechnical University, Siberian Medical University, Teachers' Training University, University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics, University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Agricultural Academy. About 50 scientific institutions are engaged in research work, with more than 15 being part of the universities.
