But for the lack of precise measuring instruments these events might have been detected much earlier. 5. These studies should have been resumed, when it became clear that the original assumption had been correct. 6. The resulting figures should have been corrected for the energy losses to make the picture look more realistic. 7. The definition of this event suggested by Smith lacked clarity; otherwise it could have been taken for general use. 8. But for the support and encouragement of my colleagues this work might not have been completed. 9. Observation of the sun and the planets must have been made long before our civilization, as evidenced by recent archaeological findings.
