Приложение (Apposition)
Приложение выделяется в синтагму и произносится с тем же ядерным тоном, что и предыдущая смысловая группа:
Your 'Aunt ̗ Emily, my ̗ daughter, and her ̖ husband Mr. 'Thomas ̖ Brown.
Oба предложения, входящие в состав сложносочиненного предложения (категорического утверждения) , как правило,произносятся нисходящим тоном, что объясняется их смысловой законченностью. Например:
Doctor 'Sandford's 'house is 'not ˎlarge ∣ but it is ˎcomfortable. 
Большая смысловая взаимосвязь между двумя самостоятельными предложениями может быть выражена восходящим завершением первого предложения. Например:
Doctor 'Sandford's 'house is 'not ˏlarge ∣ but it is ˎcomfortable. 
Ex. 2 Проинтонируйте следующее: The sunshine is warming, and the wind is soft.
He is not only my opponent, but also my best friend.
