On tins page there are two newspaper stories 'El AL Bocing747 crashed into Amsterdam apartment block' and 'All 291 people aboard stricken TWA Tri Star escape inferno'. But the stories have been mixed up.

a) Hi- tried to turn around and go back to the airport, but the loss of at least one of the engines caused him to lose control of the plane.

b) TWA flight 843 to San Francisco began its take-off roll shortly after 5:30 p.m.

c) The flight attendants then went into action, leading the passengers to the two escape chutes behind the cockpit.

d) Almost immediately after, he reported a second engine fire.

e) The pilot was aborting take-off. With its rear engine ablaze, apparently because of a ruptured fuel tine, the speeding jetliner crashed through a runway barrier and skidded to a stop.

f) A Boeing 747-200F crashed in working-class district of the Dutch capital tonight, 15 minutes

after take- off from Schipol Airport.

g) Seconds later, the 275 passengers and 16 crew aboard the Lockerby L 1011 felt the aircraft lurch violently to one side, as dense smoke filled the cabin.

h) The flight had left at 6:21 p.m. from New York, and only a few minutes later the Israeli pilot,

Isaac Tuchs radioed the control tower, reporting a fire in the jet engines.

i) The impact demolished two nine story buildings, inhabited mostly by immigrants from Suriname and the Antilles. Estimates put the number of deaths at 150 to 200.

j) In less than two minutes all about the blazing Tri Star were safely the tarmac. The near catastrophe left 67 people with minor injuries.
