Corruption affects the WHOLE manDate: 2015-10-07; view: 501. Inherited Corruption Not only is man a sinner because Adam's sin was “imputed” to his account but also because he inherits the corruption Adam received as part of the curse.
When Adam sinned, he began the slow decay of death. Obviously this includes Adam's “BODY” but throughout Genesis we see God referring to Adam from a “holistic” viewpoint. God said that Adam would return to dust and would now work for everything. (Ugly is only skin deep but corruption goes all the way to the bone) Eve was told that she would now desire after man. This probably refers to her having a sinful desire to reject his authority. Her “WILL” was affected by sin.
Susan Foh, has effectively argues that they word translated “desire” (Heb tesguqag) means “desire to conquer” and that it indicated Eve would have a wrongful desire to usurp authority over her husband. IF this understanding of the word “desire” is correct as it seems to be then it would indicate that GOD is introducing a conflict into the relationship between Adam and Eve and a desire on Eve;'s part to rebel against Adam's authority. And the Bible indicates that the “SOUL” and/or “SPIRIT” of man also need to be purified.
Adam's Sin resulted in corruption of both the material and immaterial part of man. 1 Peter 1:22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 2 Cor 7:1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God. 1 Cor 7:34 and his interests are divided. And the unmarried or betrothed woman is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit. But the married woman is anxious about worldly things, how to please her husband. Psalm 78:8 and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God. Is 29:24 And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur will accept instruction.” Prov 16:32 Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city It is clear that God expects us to grow in purifying, restraining and ruling our spirits. They have been affected by corruption.
