SYLLABUS FACULTY OF ECONOMICS PE SULEYMAN DEMIREL UNIVERSITY TOPIC 15: Modern system of international relations This lecture focuses on modern system of international relations and the role of the USA in the international relations. We also examine the role of the multilateral organizations such as the United Nations in providing international peace of security with the special focus on the UN Security Council. Role of NATO in the post-Cold War period is also discussed.

The course is designed to acquaint students with the history of international politics from the end of 19th century until 21st century. The main focus will be in understanding the systems of international relations: Versailles-Washington system of international relations, Yalta-Potsdam system of international relations, and modern system of international relations. The course will investigate such problems as the causes and effects of World War I, the Russian Revolution, the Rise of Fascism, the Great Depression, international peace and security in the interwar period, World War II, de-colonization, the Cold War, national liberation wars and super-power rivalry, the demise of Communism, and the realignment of the post-cold-war world. It will also attempt to assess the impact of these and other subjects upon today's world.
