The political aspect of the split dates back to the Emperor Constantine who in 324 declared Christianity as a state religion of the Roman Empire. After his death in 337 the Roman Empire was divided between his two sons, one of whom ruled over the western part of empire from Rome and the other- the eastern part from Constantinople. In 1054 the Christian church split into West ( Roman Catholic) and East ( Greek Orthodox). *The reason of the split
