Emotionally and physically exhausted by what happened in Houston, Bobby returns to his secret apartment. But his secret is now their secret as he finds Hope waiting for him. She accuses him of betraying her and everything they worked to have together. Because he is so upset about what happened with Tom and Jeff the fight spins out of control. He accuses her back: she knew what was going on, and she lied to herself about it because she wanted all of it, the nice house, the nice schools -- all of it. She cuts him off. You know what happened to me this week, while you were off with Joe and Tom and whoever else, I got high and failed my drug test. She tells him he doesn't care about her or the kids. He's a bigger junkie than her -- addicted to the adrenaline rush of the next score. They were a team before, trusting only each other. But that's done. All bets are off. She goes. DODD and VALEZ, get a call from the Houston FBI, they believe the two men from the botched robbery and deadly shoot-out are Tom and Jeff. Dodd and Valez go to Houston and identify Tom and Jeff's bodies -- yeah ... those were their guys from the Pittsburgh and Reno jobs. Just when Dodd and Valez think they've hit a dead end, the Houston cops drop their own bombshell: they have a lead on whom they believe to be the mastermind behind all the jobs. They're going to pick him up right now. Joe goes to Macy's. He lets himself in and finds the place deserted. There's food left out on the counter, preparations for a meal that never got made. He goes to the phone, sees that there are several messages on the machine. He hits it. The first one is from her work she hasn't been there for three days. The next one is from Ryan's preschool -- he missed school today. Hope is asleep at the dental clinic in Steve's office, having spent the night there after her fight with Bobby. Steve finds her there. She tells him she needs to get away from Bobby with the kids. Steve goes out to the front desk where he finds Bobby. Steve tries to get rid of Bobby, and it gets heated between them. Bobby shoves by him. He looks in Steve's office. Nothing. Then he hears the squeal of tires in the parking lot. She's gone. Joe heads up the sidewalk and knocks on the door of a run down little house in a lost corner of Compton. CHARLENE, Macy's older sister, answers the door. Joe tells her he's looking for Macy. Charlene says last time she spoke to Macy; she was going on a job interview to work for some rich lady and wanted to leave Ryan with her. But Charlene said no, she has four kids to deal with already. Joe leaves even more nervous. Dodd, Valez and the Houston cops wait on a stakeout. The cops tell them the stolen money was for illegal payoffs to corrupt Nigerian officials. If Jeff and Tom hadn't been caught and killed, the Nigerians probably wouldn't have even reported the money missing i.e. this was a well-planned and savvy score. Their conversation is interrupted when a man who they believe to be their "Smith" is apprehended. The cops present YVES to Dodd and Valez -- their Smith. Dodd has immediate doubts. He's not as he imagined him to be. Joe goes to Charlie's home. He ties up her bodyguard, QUINN and finds Charlie in the back yard. Joe accuses her of killing Macy. Charlie is furious that he has come in and accused her like this -- she doesn't know where Macy is. Charlie warns him if he comes back here, he won't walk out alive. The cops interrogate Yves who proves to be tough until Dodd and Valez get involved. He gives up everything he knows about Bobby, how they met in Houston, the jobs they did together and about Bobby's crew. And for some further consideration -- i.e. a plea bargain -- he'll give up more. He wants his lawyer. Bobby returns home from the dental office to find his in-laws at the house. They stayed with the kids last night. Hope's mother tells Bobby in no uncertain terms that if the past is becoming the present they'll sue for custody of the children. He takes her head off, telling her that those are my kids, Hope is my wife, and you can get the hell out of here. She tells him she knows he's up to something and she's going to call the police and tell them. He throws her out of the house as his cell rings. It's Charlie. She is furious about Joe. She doubts Bobby's hold on his crew. He's slipping. Joe scours Macy's house for any kind of clue to their whereabouts. Nothing until his mother shows up. She saw Ryan on TV. They found him in a park all the way across town, now he's down at the Department of Child and Family Services. Joe and his mother go down to the DCFS. But because Joe cannot prove his relation to Ryan they will not let him take him. They finally agree to let him see Ryan but until they can verify his relation to the child he stays with them. Joe goes in and finds Ryan who grabs onto him and won't let go. Joe breaks down and tells them he's Ryan's father. He pleads with them but they say the only sure way to prove he's Ryan's father is a DNA test. But that'll take a week. Joe considers but that's too long. He has another idea. Realizing that things are collapsing fast, Bobby goes to his accountant, DON GARDNER and demands that he wire all his money to Costa Rica. The accountant says that's impossible. Bobby tells him to take 10% for himself but it needs to be done by the end of the day. Period. Hope goes to the Turkenson's. She confesses that she and Bobby had a fight and needs a car to get out of town. She tells Debbie she needs her help now more than ever. Debbie gives her their car and lets Hope leave the other car in their garage. Joe shows up at Macy's sister's house. He explains the situation to Charlene who protests that she can not handle another kid. Joe says she won't have to but she needs to come with him now otherwise Ryan is going into foster care. He has to almost drag her to the car. Hope enters a dive bar. She orders herself bourbon on the rocks. She lights up a smoke. This is a new Hope. After the bartender pours her a drink, he says it's good to see her. He knows her. This is EDDIE. Hope asks him if he knows where Roger is. He says he does. ROGER, old friend and safecracker, works the drill bit. After a moment we realize he is in Bobby's secret apartment, breaking open Bobby's safe. Hope watches as Roger breaks through. She opens it and begins to remove all the money and weapons. Joe takes Ryan home with him to Macy's house. Ryan wants to know where his mommy is. Joe asks him what happened. Ryan says he was at a house with a swing and a whale in the back yard. Joe realizes where this is. He calls his mother to come watch Ryan. He has business. Hope pulls the kids out of school and tells them they are going to see their Uncle Pete in Phoenix. The kids ask who's Uncle Pete? She doesn't answer. They're scared. Bobby sits in the empty house. There's a knock at the door and he opens it but instead of Hope and the kids he finds an angry Joe. Yves agrees to tell them all he knows but wants full immunity and a plane ticket to France -- one way. Dodd gets the approvals for his request but only if the information is accurate and leads to an arrest. Yves' lawyer hands Dodd a manila envelope -- insurance Yves calls it. Dodd opens it to reveal gorgeous shots of Bobby, Annie, Tom and Jeff. After his conversation with Joe, Bobby confronts Charlie about what happened to Macy. She doesn't even bother to deny it. She killed her. She says Bobby lost control of his crew so she had to clean up after him. Bobby goes back out; Joe is there. Bobby lies to him. He says to Joe, it wasn't her. Joe says, Ryan said this is where she was, and she lied to me. Bobby convinces Joe that Charlie is not guilty of Macy's murder and he has to go pick up his own kids. Bobby arrives at school and finds out Hope got there first. Bobby goes to the Turkenson's to ask about Hope. Debbie tells him that she has gone to Phoenix to see her brother. Bobby puts two and two together. Joe's mom cooks dinner for Ryan. She asks Joe one question: Am I cooking for my grandson? Joe nods. She smiles, happy to finally know. Bobby runs into his secret apartment. He finds the cracked safe. Bobby stares at the cracked safe -- destroyed like his perfect life. He stands alone in the apartment.
