(1) One of the most successful of high-speed diesel engines the Sulzer A25 engine has been improved to enable it to run on heavy fuel oil.

(2) The improved engine, known as the AT25 is now fully developed for operations with the poorer quality fuel and gives ten per cent more output than did its predecessor, while operating and maintenance costs have been reduced.

(3) The AT 25 engines have four Nimonic valves per cylinder and two piece steel/aluminum pistons.

(4) The bore cooled cylinder head and cooled valve seats help to maintain low surface temperatures in the combustion chamber.

(5) The cylinder head has been completely redesigned in the new model with 2,5 times less deformation*, all of which improves its ability to burn heavy fuel oils of lower grades.
