Steven Paul Jobs was an American businessman and technology visionary. He is best known as the co-founder of Apple Inc and a charismatic pioneer of the personal computer revolution. Jobs also co-founded and served as a chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios. And he became a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company in 2006, when Disney acquired Pixar. Steven Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 and soon after the birth he was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs, a lower-middle-class couple. The family lived in Santa Clara county, now known as Silicon Valley. As a result, young Steve Jobs grew up in a neighborhood of engineers working on electronics and other gizmos in their garages on weekends. This shaped his interest in the field as he grew up. After completing high school Jobs went north to Reed College in Portland, Oregon, but dropped out after one term. He moved to a hippie commune in Oregon where his main activity was cultivating apples. A few months later, Steve returned to California to look for a job. In 1976, when Jobs was 21, he started his own business, the Apple Computer company together with his friend Wozniak. The following months were spent assembling boards of Apple I computers in the Jobses' garage, and selling them to independent computer dealers in the area. The Apple computers had success, and by the age of 25, Jobs was worth $165m. Apple was the first landmark in Job's career.
