Незалежні радіокомпанії працюють за ліцензією Агентства Ради та фінансуються переважно за рахунок реклами. У Великобританії є три незалежні національні радіослужби : Классік ФМ, що передає, головним чином, класичну музику, Верджін 1215, яка транслює рок-музику, та Ток Радіо ЮК, що забезпечує переважно мовні передачі.
