I. A) Read and translate the sentences:

1. Every year thousands of young men and women enter Universities, Institutes and Academies of Higher Education. 2. Many institutions have day-time and extra-mural departments. 3. The applicants go in for entrance exams in July and August before the new academic year begins.4. They take oral and written examinations. 5. Many applicants attend preliminary courses before taking exams.6. The first two years of study are generally the most difficult, the students may have up to 30 hours a week of seminars, lectures and classes. 7. Sport is also compulsory. 8. Students have holidays twice a year at the end of each examination session. 9. Students must do their best to pass all examinations and credit tests. 10. Unfortunately some students fail exams and while other rest they cram for their failed exams. 11. Many students attend classes and do their home assignments regularly but there are students who work by fits and starts. 12. Students usually do major and minor subjects. 13. The course runs for five-six years. 14. Apart from academic life students also have cultural one.
