At the interview

- Be polite and try to smile, give a firm handshake (ladies too).

- Be confident and make the interviewer think that you are a self-confident person.

- Listen carefully and make sure that you answer the question that the interviewer asked.

- Take a moment to digest the questions.

- Don't be afraid to start over.

- Nod to acknowledge understanding.

- Make eye contact with the interviewer between 50% and 75% of the time.

- Use pauses effectively.

- Don't panic, even if faced by more than one person.

- Try to prepare yourself for any potentially sensitive questions.

- Don't give one word answers or say you don't care what you do.

- Show interest in the job and ask questions.

- Don't speak negatively about anyone.

- Don't fidget, i.e. don't bite your lip, chew on pen, stare.

At the end of the interview you should thank the interviewer for the time spent on you. The interviewer will tell you what the next step will be.
