PER CENT FUEL SAVINGS WITH NEW DESIGNDate: 2015-10-07; view: 362. Прочтите текст C TEXT С Three large bulk carriers recently ordered from Japan's Nippon Kokan will break new ground in the "fuel economy"1 field as they will demonstrate a number of novel ideas in their main propulsion plants and machinery. , Each of the 140,000-dwt ore/coal carriers will have a single fuel "efficient" medium speed diesel engine driving a large diameter (9 m) propeller at low revs. Other internal innovations include a water distilling plant heated by the main engine cooling water, an exhaust-gas economizer, exhaust-gas-driven turbogenerator, a heating system for the accommodation utilizing the, heat of the main engine, cooling water, a boiler feed heating system using the main engine turbocharger air, variable quantity type cooling sea water pumps and a shaft driven generator-cum-motor. Each vessel's hull form has been specifically designed to save fuel and will be coated with a paint with little viscosity resistance, which it is claimed, will effectively prevent marine growth. As a result of these economy steps2 the three vessels are claimed to give 40% reduction in overall fuel consumption, compared with conventional vessels of the same type and size. "Fairptay" Notes: 1 to break new ground in the fuel economy — открывать новые возможности в области экономии топлива. 2 economy steps — шаги/меры, предпринимаемые в целях экономии.
