The main tasks of pulpitis treatment in children are eradication of inflammatory process in the pulp and prevention of periodontal tissues' diseases. It is also necessary to provide conditions for the further development of immature roots in the permanent teeth as well as their physiological resorbtion in the temporary teeth.

There are 5 methods used for the pulpitis treatment in pediatric stomatology:

1) conservative or biological- the method aimed at preservation of vitality and functional activity of the pulp;

2) vital amputation-the method is extraction of the crown part of the pulp before anesthesia and preservation of the functional activity of the root pulp;

3) vital extirpation- the method of complete extraction of the pulp before the anesthesia;

4) devital amputation- extraction of the crown part of the pulp after its previous devitalisation;

5) devital extirpation- complete pulp extraction after its previous devitalisation .

Conservative( biological) method of treatment

It is used predominantly on the permanent teeth for the immature and mature roots.

The indications are: 1)acute traumatic pulpitis (unexpected disclosure of the pulp horn at carious cavity preparation and traumatic fracture of the crown tooth part( in a period not later than 6 hours after the trauma); 2) pulp hyperemia; 3) acute serous local pulpitis; 4) chronic fibrous pulpitis on the stage of immature root( as a temporary treatment method).

The method is rarely used for the temporary teeth because of difficult asepsis and antisepsis, and quite often repeated development of complications.
