Task 3.Translate the following sentences from Russian into English using the vocabulary of the unit.

1. Я люблю всё мучное. Я знаю, что от пирожков, бу­лочек, пирожных и печенья ужасно полнеют, но ни­чего не могу с собой поделать.

2. Сейчас очень многие увлекаются вегетарианской пи­щей. Они едят любые овощи — картошку, морковь, свёклу, цветную капусту, горох, салат, но совсем не едят мяса.

3. Постарайтесь сократить употребление говядины, сви­нины, баранины. Лучше ешьте куриное мясо, только без кожи. Это пойдет Вам на пользу.

4. — Какое масло лучше использовать для приготовле­ния пищи — сливочное или растительное? — Смотря для чего. Если хочешь, чтобы было сыт­нее, то сливочное, а если хочешь быть здоровее, то растительное. Говорят, самое полезное масло — рас­тительное.

Task 4*.Write an article for an international travel magazine about the best aspects of your country's food.

Task 5.Make up lists of active vocabulary units you could use answering each of these questions. Write the final topic using questions from this task as a plan. Get ready to present your topic in class.

1. Do you like to eat? Why or why not? Do you like to try new food and drinks? Can you cook? If yes, what food do you cook the most often? Do you prefer home-cooked food or do you much more enjoy eating out?

2. Do you think your country's food is the tastiest in the world? When you are abroad, what is the food that you miss most from home? Do you like food from other countries? If yes, which do you like the most? Which place would you call the gastronomic centre of the world? Why? What do you think of British food? Do you think that food defines a culture? How does the etiquette of eating together in your country differ from other countries?

3. What are some foods that you know are really healthy for your body? Do you usually keep up to a healthy diet or it doesn't really matter for you what to eat since it's tasty? Do you read the nutritional information on the foods you buy? Are you a vegetarian? Do you think a vegetarian diet is healthier than a diet that includes meat? Do you think it's really necessary for us to eat meat?

4. What are some foods that are considered unhealthy? Do you like to eat at fast food restaurants? What are your favourite ones? How often do you eat junk food? Do you think it's really that bad for our health?

5. Do you believe GM food dangerous? What are the advantages of GM food?

6. Have you ever been on a diet? If so, how long did you stayed on it? Why do you think diets are usually short? Is dieting dangerous, in your opinion? Are you concerned about your daily calorie intake when choosing something to eat? Do you like to eat cakes? What do you eat when you feel sad?

7. Do you believe that "we are what we eat?"
