Theme 8: Job interviews in the UK, the USA and in Kazakhstan: main rules, peculiarities, and procedures

Цель проекта: Выявить проблемы, касающиеся данной темы в нашей стране, в странах изучаемого языка, установить причинно-следственные связи, на данной основе разработать и предложить алгоритм решения существующей проблемы.

 

Problem: interview procedures and tips varied according to a country.

Aim: to identify how to deal with job interviews successfully in the UK, the USA and in Kazakhstan.

Objective: to find out the main peculiarities and rules of various interviews held in the UK, the USA and in Kazakhstan; to identify similarities and differences between interviews in three above mentioned countries.

 

General OBLIGATORYInstructions:

- Use power point to design creative slides and present the information;

- Don’t write more than 10 words in one slide.

- Use various VIDEO or AUDIO files to illustrate examples;

- Bring statistics and necessary data in schemes;

- Remember to mention the resources you used to analyze.

- Each group member must take an equal participation.

- Remember to mention the sources of information. Use footnotes.

 

Stage 1: The interrelation between interview procedures and getting a job. What is the role of job interviews nowadays in different countries? Why is it important to have outstanding interviewing skills?

a) Design Fact concerning the theme of the project work. Find the data in the Internet chats, Internet journals, news or websites. Say:

- How can good interviewing skills contribute to getting a “dream-work”?

 

b) Design a statistics data of the usage of various behavioral features at interviews in Kazakhstan, the UK, and the USA today.

 

Stage 2: Find out the main peculiarities and rules of various interviews held in the UK, the USA and in Kazakhstan; identify similarities and differences between interview procedures in the three above mentioned countries. Illustrate your opinion with exact examples.

 

Stage 3: Identify how to deal with job interviews successfully in the UK, the USA and in Kazakhstan. List the main peculiarities of interview procedures and useful tips varied according to a country.

a) Describe and show the similarities and differences in interview structure existing in Kazakhstan, Great Britain, and the USA.

b) Write down and present different strategies and techniques of verbal and non-verbal behaviour for being successful at an interview.

Stage 4: Presentation of the project.

 

 

Theme 9: Successful interpersonal and intercultural skills of translators in a rapidly changing multinational and multicultural society nowadays.

Aim: to identify how to deal with interpersonal and intercultural communication successfully.

Objective: to find out the main peculiarities of interpersonal and intercultural communication of translators; to develop interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.

- What factors can cause a culture shock? How to overcome this negative phenomenon?

- Is it a solution to have some kind of “world language” that can connect us all?

- What consequences can we face up to as a result of this problem in our society?

 

b) Think, analyze and say:

- What influence does the increasing use of indirect communication via computer or phone have on our society?

- How about the use of abbreviations or emoticons?

 

Stage 2: Identify how to deal with interpersonal and intercultural communication successfully in the constantly globalized world nowadays. Illustrate your opinion with exact examples.

 

Stage 3: Find out the main peculiarities of interpersonal and intercultural communication of translators. What is required to develop interpersonal and intercultural communication skills?

Stage 4: Presentation of the project.

 

 

Theme 10: The major challenges in interpersonal relations among the peers / colleagues.

Aim: to identify how to deal with interpersonal communication among the peers / colleagues successfully.

Objective: to find out the main peculiarities of interpersonal communication between the peers / colleagues; to develop interpersonal communication skills.
